Website cost in Morocco 2026: real prices
Real website price ranges in Morocco for 2026: brochure, business and e-commerce sites, what drives quotes, and the true three-year cost.
Ask three agencies to quote a website in Morocco and you’ll get 4,000 MAD, 15,000 MAD and 60,000 MAD for what looks like the same brief. That isn’t random — the three quotes describe different work. None of them explains that.
Here are the real ranges, what drives them, and the costs that quotes tend to omit.
The 2026 ranges
| Type of site | Market range | My pricing | Timeline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landing page / one-pager | 2,500 – 8,000 MAD | 3,500 MAD | 3–5 days |
| 5-page brochure site | 4,000 – 15,000 MAD | 6,000 MAD | 7–10 days |
| 8+ page business site | 8,000 – 30,000 MAD | from 9,000 MAD | 2–3 weeks |
| Multilingual + booking + blog | 15,000 – 50,000 MAD | up to 14,000 MAD | 3–5 weeks |
| E-commerce | 15,000 – 80,000 MAD | on request | 4–8 weeks |
The market range is wide because it mixes very different realities: a student installing a WordPress theme, an experienced freelancer, and a Casablanca agency with offices and six staff. All three can deliver “a 5-page brochure site.”
What actually drives the price
Content. The number one hidden cost. If you supply text and photos, the developer assembles. If you expect them to write your pages and organise a photo shoot, add 30–50%. Plenty of projects take three months instead of three weeks purely because the client never sent their copy.
Number of languages. A French–Arabic site is not “the same site twice.” Arabic requires RTL layout — reading direction inverts, and with it margins, icons, alignment and carousels. Budget 40–60% additional work for a properly executed second language, and be sceptical of a quote that prices it at 500 MAD: it will be Google Translate behind a plugin.
Custom design. A $60 ThemeForest theme, customised, costs a fraction of an original design. That’s not illegitimate — for many small businesses it’s the right trade-off. But you should know which one you’re buying, and that your site will resemble thousands of others.
Transactional features. Online payment, booking with live availability, customer accounts, integration with a management system — each pushes the project into a different complexity bracket.
SEO. “SEO optimised” can mean the title tags were filled in, or that someone did keyword research, structured the information architecture and wrote targeted pages. The price difference between those is roughly tenfold.
The recurring costs quotes leave out
This is where budgets break. The initial quote is rarely the real cost.
| Item | Annual cost |
|---|---|
| .ma or .com domain | 100 – 300 MAD |
| Shared WordPress hosting | 600 – 1,200 MAD |
| Static hosting (Netlify, Vercel) | 0 MAD |
| SSL certificate | 0 MAD (Let’s Encrypt) |
| Premium theme + plugin licences | 500 – 2,000 MAD |
| Maintenance and updates | from 600 MAD/month |
A WordPress site costing 6,000 MAD at delivery easily reaches 8,000–10,000 MAD over three years once hosting, licences and maintenance are counted. A static site over the same period stays close to its initial price: hosting is free and there are no licences to renew.
That’s the comparison to demand from any vendor: not the delivery price, but the three-year total.
Why maintenance isn’t optional on WordPress
On WordPress, maintenance is a security requirement, not a comfort service. Core, theme and every plugin receive updates, and an un-updated plugin is the most common intrusion vector. A site left alone for six months regularly ends up redirecting to spam — and deindexed by Google.
A static site has no database and no exposed execution layer, so the attack surface is near zero. That’s a difference in kind rather than degree, and it explains much of the long-term cost gap.
How to read a quote
Questions that surface the real differences:
- Who writes the copy? If it isn’t written down, it’s you.
- Exactly how many pages, and which? “Brochure site” means nothing.
- Who owns the domain name? It must be registered to you, not the agency. This is a classic hostage point when you change providers.
- Will I get the access credentials and the code? Same answer.
- How many rounds of revisions are included?
- What does a change cost after delivery? An hourly rate or fixed fee should be stated upfront.
- Can I edit my own text? If every phone-number change needs an invoice, the real cost is much higher.
- What’s the total cost in year two?
Those eight questions eliminate most unpleasant surprises.
Red flags
A very low price with a very short timeline. A 1,500 MAD site delivered in 48 hours is an unconfigured theme. It will exist; it won’t do anything.
No written, itemised quote. Plenty of business in Morocco happens over WhatsApp — fine, but a message listing the precise scope needs to exist.
Domain registered to the provider. Non-negotiable.
“SEO included” with no definition of what that covers.
No live examples. Mockups prove nothing. Ask for real URLs and open them on your phone over 4G, not from a fibre connection.
The right budget for your situation
Tradesperson, professional practice, clinic — 3,500–6,000 MAD. One to five pages, visible contact details, tappable phone number, a solid Google listing. Beyond that you’re paying for features that won’t change your business.
SME with a sales team — 9,000–14,000 MAD. Detailed service pages, content built for search, bilingual if you’re targeting broadly.
Retailer selling online — From 15,000 MAD, and allow time for payment methods and logistics. This is the one case where I’d advise against economising.
Unvalidated idea — A 3,500 MAD landing page plus ad spend. You’ll know within a month whether the market exists, for a fraction of the cost of a full site.
The worst trade-off I see in Morocco isn’t spending too little — it’s spending 20,000 MAD on a site nobody finds, because the budget went into animations instead of content and search visibility. A simple, well-ranked site beats a beautiful invisible one every time.
